The Administration realized that in order to effectively manage the challenges of improving government service delivery and ensures economic and social development attention must be paid to the utilization of modern technology. It was in realization of the unique position modern technology occupies as a veritable instrument for development and the need to properly manage the State's global Computerization Projects which necessitated the creation of the Ministry. It is on record that this Ministry had since its creation been providing professional Information Communication Technology services to the Civil Service and the Public at large. The achievements of the Ministry over the past years have been outstanding and have been acknowledge ,even outside the continent. In far away London on two occasions in December 2005 and December 2006,the ministry representing the City of Lagos clinched the first position in the Science and Technology category of the prestigious World leadership Awards, which is an examination and celebration of the best in modern city leadership. The entries projected the e-governance policies of the State Government. VISION STATEMENT: To make Lagos the Foremost State Through the innovative application of Science and Technology for solving problems and making impact in the human ventures. MISSION STATEMENT: EMPLOYING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN ALL ACTIVITIES TOWARDS IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF LAGOSIANS AND TRANSFORMING LAGOS,THROUGH STRATEGIC AND COORDINATED UTILIZATION OF AVAILABLE RESOURCES INTO A DEVELOPED, INDUSTRIAL AND MODERN STATE OF INTERNATIONAL STATURE.
